Girl Scout Forever

“Leave a place better than you found it.” That’s one of the life values I learned as a Girl Scout. My mom was troop leader with my friend Holly’s mom. I called Mrs. Morris “Mrs. Morris,” but I couldn’t seem to get the hang of everyone calling mom “Mrs. Blume.” It made me giggle. It was fun to know that mom was co-woman-in-charge. And the thrill of earning a badge and getting to wear my uniform on Scout Day at school instilled a sense of pride in accomplishment in me as a young girl.
